For our inaugural pod, I interviewed my fellow Substacker – the other ‘grumpy old man’ running this blog – Brian Bonner, about the consequences for Ukraine of a second Donald Trump presidency. Brian has worked as a journalist in Ukraine for 20 years and, before that, for even longer in his homeland, so he is uniquely placed to lay out what is at stake in November.
And he is not impressed with the West’s handling of ‘Putin vs. Ukraine’: not with Barack Obama’s caution, not with Joe Biden’s hesitance, but least of all with Trump and his promise to ‘easily’ solve the conflict in 24 hours.
Bonner’s conclusion: This is dangerous, a nightmare, and not just for Ukraine!
