BLITZ INTERVIEW: 'A different type of Christmas' for Johan Hansen, Danish combat medic on the frontline in Ukraine
The Dane, with experience from Bosnia and Afghanistan, talked to us with artillery fire in the background: "Sure, it's an adrenaline rush, but I also get to help people and I learn a lot."
BY MICHAEL ANDERSEN
Todayβs Blitz Interview is a bit different. We usually do them in writing β but our guest today does not have time for that β because he isΒ aΒ combat medic, and he was, as we were speaking, treating badly wounded soldiers very close to the frontline, as you can hear.
His name is Johan Hansen, and I managed to grab 10 minutes of his valuable time on a dodgy Starlink phone. And yes, the thunder behind Johan is gunfire from the frontline. Enjoy the listen.

By the way, as you probably know, here at βTwo Grumpy Old Men on Ukraineβ we have already profiled a great many characters, active, impressive people working for Ukraine, in our Blitz Interviews.
These people do important work to support Ukraine, wherever they may be in the world, and whatever sphere they work in - be it as authors, NGO activists, poets, driving cars to Ukraine, rebuilding houses for refugees, sharing their expertise, trying to keep the focus on Ukraine etc.
Itβs impressive what they do, go have a look in our archive.
Very interesting well worth a listen
