This is Kyiv Post chief editor Brian Bonner’s description of the July 1, 2016, edition, which can be found here in PDF format.
We're done in the newsroom and proud to bring you our month-long investigation of #Ukraine's troubled banking sector. The stories are in the regular newspaper and our 10th edition of the Legal Quarterly.
The bottom line: $11.4 billion was stolen, nobody was punished, and less than 5 percent will be recovered, if that. And it can happen again—maybe not on such a large scale—but it is possible, even though the National Bank of Ukraine and lawmakers have taken many steps to clean up the sector and prevent future fraud.
We also have some big interviews—with parliament speaker Andriy Parubiy and Ukrainian Ambassador to Canada Andriy Shevchenko. Anticipation is high in Kyiv over the upcoming visit of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on July 11-12.
On the lighter side, we have a guide to summer music festivals.
