MH17 justice
A Russian BUK missile shot down Malaysian Airlines Flight 17, killing 298 aboard. Despite the convictions in absentia of two Russians and one Ukrainian, higher authorities have escaped justice.
Here is Kyiv Post chief editor Brian Bonnerβs summary of the July 17, 2015, edition, which can be found here in PDF format:
Iβve just returned from the U.S.-Ukraine Business Forum in Washington, D.C. It was a gathering that offers great potential for future bilateral relations and trade, especially, but only -- as U.S. Vice President Joe Biden put it bluntly -- if Ukraine starts fighting corruption and crime, something Ukraine's leaders haven't done well.
But our top story is "Clear And Convincing Evidence" on the anniversary of the Malaysia Airlines shootdown that killed 298 people. And the evidence points to Russia as the guilty party.
We also look at the implications of the shootout between police and Right Sector militia members in Mukacheve. One thing is clear: People have little faith in Ukraine's law enforcement institutions, and some seem willing to become vigilantes.
We've got better news in business and happier news in lifestyle.
Coming up soon: Kyiv Post 20th Anniversary gala party on Sept. 19.
Thanks to everyone.
