Russia's bloody war...10 years ago
The Kyiv Post cover from 2015 is hard to look at, but 12 people lost their lives.
This is Kyiv Post chief editor Brian Bonnerβs summary of the Jan. 16, 2025, edition, which can be read here in PDF format:
We're very happy to be back in print for the first edition of 2015 -- our 20th year of existence -- after the winter holiday break. "No Peace" describes the grim situation as Russia shows no sign of letting up in its war against Ukraine. The holiday message "Peace on Earth, Goodwill Towards Men" falls on deaf ears when it comes to Vladimir Putin, whose separatists killed 12 people -- mostly pensioners trying to collect their meager pensions -- on Jan. 13. His proxies have gone on the offensive. They are trying to claim more territory in the Donbas war zone. Fortunately, Western politicians -- led by Angela Merkel -- are in no mood to swallow more of Putin's lies and have vowed to keep supporting sanctions until Russia delivers on its promises of peace in the Minsk accords. In other news, we have an update on Ukraine's reform watch, an analysis of Russia's faltering economy, and speculation about how Ukraine will plug a $15 billion gap to avoid default. Much more....we hope you enjoy this edition, and we thank all advertisers, subscribers, and readers for their support in what will be another challenging year.
Itβs horrible the us let Russia get away with it.
