The war's tragedies started early in 2014

The Russian shootdown of a Ukrainian military transport plane trying to land 10 years ago 10 years ago on June 20 killed all 49 people aboard.

It is a sad issue today, as usual during wartime. More than 150 Ukrainian servicemen have been killed in the Kremlin-fueled separatist war; hundreds injured and missing. Russia is suspected of sabotaging a gas pipeline. The West, meanwhile, continues to leave Ukraine on its own -- doing nothing more on the sanctions front or arming Ukraine. Meanwhile, some Ukrainians -- like pop star Ani Lorak -- keep on giving concerts in Russia and Russian-occupied Crimea.
