Ukraine is fighting for all of us...but most are not
Hundreds of thousands of the nation's most able-bodied men are sitting out the war. Men cannot be drafted until age 27 in a nation fighting for its survival.
This is a piece I wrote for The Cipher Brief, published March 7, 2024. It is a U.S. news site devoted to news, opinion and analysis of global security issues. It raises great questions about why a nation fighting for its survival, with nearly 20% of its country occupied by Russia, is exempting from battle its most able-bodied men from 18-26.
