I hope that Trump will rightly take his place on Mount Rushless alongside Hitler, Mao, and Stalin. Truly the most evil man in American history.

Trump is actively gathering intense contempt among Americans, and the Vance/Trump assault on President Zelensky in the Oval Office was a toxic moment that contributed to that. If you listen to anyone in the trump regime, like Witkoff, in the media, you would be justified in the conclusion that public opinion is swaying against Ukraine. Don’t. They are bobble-head shitheads with zero integrity, willing to sign on with the trump narrative in an attempt to stay with the β€œin-crowd”. There is no real American, with half a brain, who thinks Russia and Putin are anything but the definition of absolute evil - shrouded in perpetual lies -which seems to be where fascist trump wants to take us.

....well, I WANT to agree with you, Doug, that no American falls for this BS. But this us a YouGov/Economist poll, so it's properly quite reliable. Sadly.

Note; I said β€œβ€¦real American, with half a brain…”. A qualification which contributes to the observed results in the poll. πŸ˜‰

Most of the change in attitude is among a certain percentage of Republicans in the trump cult, who believe whatever he says. The cultists would agree with him if he said the moon was made of cheese. Beyond that minority of Americans, attitudes are much less likely to be influenced by the narcissistic grifter in the White House.

....I partly agree with you, but you have to admit that a 20% in two months, so that almost 30% of Republicans no longer consider Russia an enemy.... well, it's a rather sizeable minority.

My sympathy still goes to Ukraine and my disgust to Putin.

A lot of people who haven’t been abroad or have friends or colleagues that have arrived recently have no exposure to what life is like outside the US. They think most of our (former?) allies have higher incomes and better lives at our expense because they’ve been told that. They think every country’s costs of production and technology are the same and thus only trade barriers and undeserved US aid is why. They don’t understand that specialization and economies of scale make more difference than trade barriers and that Trump’s tariffs can’t change that. Thus much of the foreign product will still be cheaper. We’ll just pay more and no increase in US production will occur. They thought inflation was bad under Biden. How long are they going to put up with double digit cost increases and bare shelves? Americans are not used to living like Russian peasants.

The rehabilitation of Russia's standing *even among Democrats* in the "Switching sides" graph is appalling. (It was already too favorable, throughout.)

I believe the poll, and have expected these results. As long as the right controls the media, this is what we'll see.

Too many people still watch Fox News too often and the syrupy way they present MAGA politics.

More people need to read Two Grumpy Old Men and watch / listen to Meidas Touch. More people will pay attention when MAGA policies have a direct financial impact on themselves. It's starting to gain momentum, but still not quick enough. I think maybe boiling point will be attained in the Summer.

Hope you're right. I try to keep my eye on right-wing news (know your enemy). I can't tolerate Fox, but I do dip into The Free Press, and The Ground News for comparison bias. I hope I'm exaggerating how much maga support exists, but it seems very strong to me. They mindlessly believe everything trump and his sycophants say. 1984 as people say, is still the best metaphor. Friends and enemies change daily.

I only watch Fox News via the clips included on the Meidas Touch YouTube bulletins. That is already too much. Don't forget245 million were eligible to vote.

156.3 million votes cast 63.9%

Trump received 77.284 million votes 31.54%

Harris received 74.999 million votes. 30.61%

36% did not vote.

66.6 % of voters didn’t vote for Trump. The number of people that didn't vote for Trump is more than double the number that did vote for him. People that didn't vote for Trump are away in the vast majority.

I know no one - even my MAGA neighbor- who dislikes Ukraine. Thats a small sample, granted, and we have Ukrainian neighbors, but even with the conglomerate of stooges lying their socks off, I think this is one position grandpa Orange can’t win.
