What Americans think about Ukraine (if they do)? Impressions from the old editor's summer trip to the US of A.

Maybe Ukraine’s best chance is that there seems to be more 'Trump fatigue' than 'Ukraine fatigue? “The overall mood is ‘When will this thing (the war) be over? Because we are getting tired of it!”

BY MICHAEL ANDERSEN

My fellow grumper and blogger, Brian Bonner, always goes back to the US in the summer to see family and friends. So, recently, as Brian had just returned to Kyiv, I asked him about how Americans look at Ukraine after two-and-a-half years of war.

Listen to the old editor’s impression from his whirlwind tour through five states in America — Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska, and Illinois; about the interest in Ukraine and the general level of political debate in his home country, and about what role – if any – Ukraine will come to play in the presidential campaign and maybe in the debate between the two candidates this coming Tuesday, Sept. 10.

Here is a link to the recent opinion poll we refer to in the pod.

Between them, Michael Andersen and Brian Bonner have covered Ukraine for 50+ years. This blog is pro-Ukrainian, telling the truth about places, people and the West's role. Neither the war nor Ukraine's other challenges started in February 2022.
